This is a large oil painting inspired by visual memories of walking amongst the fields and wild meadows near where I live. On my daily walks through the local fields, I am constantly mesmerised by fresh new life emerging, growing tall along the hedgerows, and bending in breeze. Responding to the landscape, there's a feeling of the wide open space, the Spring breeze on my face, and the wild beauty and vitality of Springtime!
The painting is developed with expressive palette knife strokes, with layers and texture to create depth and vibrancy. I seek to capture the essence of that moment in nature. Executed with Winsor & Newton professional oil paints on high quality stretched canvas, with universal primer, and with softwood stretchers. Canvas size is 80 x 60 cm with edges of 4.5 cm depth. The image is extended on the sides of the canvas creating a 3-D effect. The canvas is signed on both the front and the back, and there are 2 D-rings attached to each side of the softwood stretchers strung with strong cord so that this work is READY TO HANG to sit flush against the wall, with no need for any further framing, offering a contemporary finish to the artwork.
